From the Forest of Firefly Lights
Overview
"Hotarubi no Mori e" (or Into the Forest of Firefly Lights) is a Japanese animated film released in 2011, directed by Takahiro Omori and based on the manga of the same name by Yuki Midorikawa. The story revolves around the relationship between a human girl named Hotaru Takegawa and a forest spirit named Gin. It was written through the eyes of Hotaru as she entered the mountain forest and met Gin.
From the Forest of Firefly Lights is an interactive narrative that tries to shift the focus to Gin. It is an interpretation of Gin's character, emotions, hesitations and experiences with Hotaru and of untold stories from the forest.
